How print providers are participating in the evolution of hybrid work

October 16, 2023

Hybrid work consolidates in much of the world and is not losing momentum, contrary to popular belief, and continues to require constant updating by providers.

Large companies like Disney and Amazon recently required many employees to leave the hybrid work environment and return to the office.

However, a study by The Conference Board released by Forbes with more than 1,100 executives showed that only 3% of organizations plan to reduce the frequency or eliminate hybrid work. The number is lower than the number of CEOs who plan to expand this regime: 5%.

The reasons for the increase in the modality are in a survey conducted by Cisco. The initiative identified that more than six out of 10 employees believe that their quality of work has increased (61.4%), and a similar percentage states that productivity has increased (60.4%).

The Cisco study also presented three ingredients for making hybrid work run, especially from the perspective of employees:

  1. Flexibility in working hours is cited as essential by 65.6% of employees.
  1. 53.4% report an increase in the use of technology, such as the more constant use of collaboration tools and virtual meetings (50.4%).
  1. The elimination or reduction of commute time: 52.8%.

In that context, how can print providers assist organizations in the hybrid work issues? That also helps to create solid partnerships with final customers!

1. Print secure release

Each organization sets its own rules regarding the work days in the office. For the print provider, this means two things: flexibility and mobility. Sometimes, the employee will be in their home office routine and will send materials to print to pick them up on office days or even on a business trip.

The functionality aims to bring flexibility and mobility with security and efficiency. In print secure release, documents wait in a queue, and the employee only needs to insert a password, PIN, biometrics, or badge to print on any device, regardless of the location.

2. Cybersecurity

Despite the advantages perceived by employees, the security aspect is something that catches the attention of organizations. In a world governed by data and with specific legislation about private information security, it is necessary to offer a structure capable of meeting these requirements.

That implies specific tools to ensure the data security and devices adopted in hybrid work, such as notebooks, smartphones, printers, and other equipment.

3. Remote device management

Many organizations do not feel comfortable or do not know how to manage devices such as notebooks, tablets, and smartphones in the home office. Print providers have naturally embraced the market for managing other devices.

That market has appeared for printing providers and, at the same time, has solved a series of difficulties for companies that have had to manage devices in a new context, taking into account the specific demands of each employee.
